Week of May 20th

Homework was posted last week for this week.  I am posting the information which I sent home to cast members, just in case you misplace it. 

Well everyone, we are finally there!  Thank you for your ongoing support.  Everyone working together has helped to make the production a joy!

Saturday, May 19th – Any parent volunteers in the gym for stage set-up at 1 o’clock.  Thank you!

Sunday, May 20th

12:00 (Mrs. Dunsmore, Amy Walker, Brian Walker and any volunteers for set up and sound)

1:00-4:00 (All cast members, Lollipop Kids and Stage Crew)  Please pack a snack and a drink.  We could use a parent or two to watch the little ones.  Possibly, you could take them to the playground for a 20 minute break.

Monday, May 20th

6:30 (Mrs. Dunsmore, Mrs. Walker and volunteers for a sound check)

7:00-8:30) Main Cast and the Stage Crew.  No Lollipop Kids or Munchkins.

Tuesday (1st show)

6:00 – Main Cast/volunteers/Stage Crew.  Report backstage (Cares room/hallway)

6:30 – Munchkins and Lollipop Kids (report to the back of the gym near the kitchen)

Wednesday (2nd show)

6:00 – Main Cast/volunteers/Stage Crew.  Report backstage (Cares room/hallway)

6:30 – Munchkins/Lollipop Kids (report to the back of the gym by the kitchen)

Attention – If your child stays for Cares and is performing in the show, you might want to make arrangements to pick him/her up early so that they will have a chance to rest before the show and have dinner.  Thank you!

Homework Wooks of May 14th and May 21st

Because the weeks are so broken up, the Spelling test will be given on Tuesday, May 29th.  If the children are staying for “The Wizard of Oz” practice, I will attempt to get their homework finished in class.  Please check and sign to see that it is all completed.  On Sunday, May 20th there will be a full dress rehearsal from 1-4.  children should wear white short sleeved shirts, any color shorts and sneakers.  Thank you!

Tuesday – No Homework!  Please come to school by 6:25 for “The Wizard of Oz”.  Eat a good dinner, first.  Tonight’s the BIG NIGHT.  You will be great!

Wednesday – No Homework!  Please come to school by 6:25 for “The Wizard of Oz”. .  Eat a good dinner and plan to make your families proud!

There will NOT be a Religion test this week, as the children have covered the core of the book.  We will begin to review various chapters and in two weeks, I will send the book for you to keep at home.  Also, I will make up a Religion review sheet which will be sent home in two weeks, which should give the children adequate time to review for their exams.

Homework

Monday – The children are invited and encouraged to attend the May Procession tonight at 6:45.  Children should come to our first grade classroom by 6:35.  Thank you!  Because of the May Procession, I will have the children complete Monday night’s homework in class.

Spelling – Copy the Spelling words 2x each.

Math – Complete the worksheet titled, “How Many Cents?”

Read the classroom book which you picked out.  If it is a chapter book, please read for 15 minutes every night.  The books need to be returned by Friday, NO EXCEPTIONS!  On Friday, you will tell your friends about the story.

Tuesday

Religion – Read the porm “To Our Lady” to a family member.  May is Mary’s special month.

Read the chapter book which you picked out.

Wednesday

Spelling:  Copy the sentences or write sentences of your own using this week’s Spelling words.

Please bring the classroom book back to school tomorrow.

Poem – “At Night”. Please read the poem 2x to a family member.  Then, look for rhyming words and complete the questions at the bottom of the paper.

 

Thursday

Spelling – Say, Spell and Say the Spelling words 3x each to a family member.

Math – Please complete the math paper titled “Domino Math”.

Storytelling – Please take the paper which begins with the words “I wish I could talk to…”  and write 3 sentences in which you pretend that you are talking to either a bat, an owl or a snake.  Then, ask him what it is like coming out at night.  You might want to ask him what he does for play or maybe what he like to eat.  Draw and color a picture at the top of the page.  Have fun with it!

Religion – Unit 4- Review

Read your library book to yourself or to a relative.

Wednesday

Spelling – Your choice; Either copy the sentences which I gave you or write sentences of your own using our Spelling words.  Please remember that sentences begin with capital letters and end with marks of punctuation.
